Swan Mountain

So Eliot and I were walking around on this trail yesterday and, because shredding is pretty much our paradigm for life, we kept on looking at the vistas like "that would make a sick snowboarding shot!" I had to get to work so we put it off until today. This morning we woke up and it was fully overcast so we didn't think we'd make much of the day. BUT, around 10:30 a.m. the sun came out to play. Eliot was slow to start cause we were amped up pretty late lastnight, but a couple of Danish butter cookies out a Christmas tin brought out the cookie monster in him and got the funball rolling.
We got up to Swan Mountain midday and within 100 yards of the car we were setting up for the half-circle shot. We were just so amazed at how nice the day became that I don't think we could have done wrong with a picture.
Being that it's early season, I hit a bunch of undergarbage while Eliot shot. But in between lurkers there was an amazing softness to the snow. It was kinda like pure cane sugar de-molassesed. Pretty sure that's not a word but anyways, I remember the silent shout of the snow as I threw on the brakes after jumping over the hiking trail.
ppphhhhhhhh....
Our goal when we set out was to get a shot of board-slapping the piles of snow on top of these picnic benches with a crazytime beautiful view of the lake behind them. The snow was too light to build a bumper with, so we didn't get that done, but we still had a great time. Bluebird day, huge views, and truly great company. I had a great day. I think the neatest part of this shoot is that there isn't really enough snow right now to do much off-piste and we still went out there and had fun.
